You can record desktop with the snipping tool on Win 11 now,

Win key + shift + s

ShareX can also do this.. as well as simple screenshots etc..

Recently installed it as a recommendation from here.. and it works well..

If you're on Win11 clip champ works pretty well, it's a little limited but does the job. Use it all of the time.
