Screen recording software

is there a software that can record my computer screen and allow me to narrate it with text/sound?

I want too make an instructional video about a piece of software.

camtasia is far more user firendly, depends how much editing you want to do etc..

I would second Camtasia, but the video codec is not very efficient and will give you quite big output files. If size is important you could run them through VirtualDub to re-encode it to XviD afterwards. About half the size on the ones I've done.
