Screen Repair Price Increase

One thing that interested me is that, I heard that with the TouchID stuff you really need Apple to swap the screen otherwise the device dies after 90 days or something?
Not sure if my phone insurance would allow me to take it to Apple :s

It's just touchID that stops working if the repair isn't done by an approved repairer, but any repair that is up to the standard will have touch ID reactivated which would require a trip to an apple store (if memory serves me correctly).

Just seen that iPhone screen repair has gone up from about £80 to £126!

I didn't have AppleCare and got quoted £250 for me to get the phone repaired by apple. I just bought a new screen for £30 and fitted it myself. It seems to be good as new.

Except it's not an Apple part, no matter what the supplier claims and so if you had any warranty on the device, it's now invalidated.
