Hi all,

Had an issue for w while where my TV would not always be detected when starting my PC (or rather, the PC was not being picked up as an input)....

I saw it suggested somewhere that it may work better if attached to the DP output from the card (7900XT), so a few days ago I ordered a DP > HDMI adapter. On arrival, I put it in to find that the signal is being stretched to slightly bigger than the screen image, so that the taskbar is slightly off the sscreen and I can only see part of the windows button/app icons/clock area.

I also noticed that HDR was no longer available and on checking, noticed that the cable was only rated for 4k60hz (DP1.2 > HDMI 2.0).
I took the adapter out and went back to HDMI, all working fine as expected, and ordered another adapter that claims to be DP1.4 > HDMI 2.1 - 8k60 or 4k120.

That adapter arrived yesterday and I got around to trying it tonight - HDR is now available again, however I've still got the issue with the UI being stretched.... So I thought "Ok, whatever, I'll just go back to HDMI", removed the adapter and plugged back in to the HDMI port on the card.... BUT now the scaling issue is still there and I can't get back to having the picture appropriately sized for the screen.

I've tried:

- every combination of ports
- setting lower (and higher) resolutions and it's just making it worse - it allowed me to select 4096x2160 but all that's achieved is making it now have black bars at the sides of the screens when set to below that :(
- clean re-install of GPU driver including removing user settings

This is driving me absolutely barmy.... If I can't use the DP adapter then that I could live with, but I'm now not even able to have it workimg like it was yesterday with the exact same hardware!

Ok so after a bit of googling today I was reminded of the proper term for this issue - Overscan!

Armed with that knowledge, I found several posts saying there is a slider in the AMD Adrenaline control panel for this, however I couldn't find it (possibly because the card is now seeing it as DP, with it running back on the adapter).
I then found an option in my TV (edit: LG) settings under the 'aspect ratio' section called 'Just scan', which had previously been on auto. I set this to 'On' and it's now displaying properly :)

So thought I should post back here in case anyone else encounters the same issue and comes here searching... only time will tell if the adapter sorts the signal drop out issue (or maybe just the setting would have also resolved it!)
