Recently bought a B* grade MSI GTX670 PE 2 weeks ago for £240, couldn't resist as I had just sold my HD6950. Ive been loving the increase in performance but i'm getting screen tear in some games for example arma 2, red orchestra 2 and even the likes of bastion where the screen tear slowly travels down the screen. I've tried using nvidias adaptive v-sync, games v-sync and both applied but to no avail. I'm currently using a 60hz hdtv, cheers.

Have another monitor available to test? Are you running at the actual native res of your HDTV?

No other monitor to test i'm afraid. In gaming i'm playing 1920x1080 but the native res is 1360x768 which I use for my desktop resolution but just looks ugh in gaming. I Never had this problem with the 6950 but maybe thats because I wasn't achieving higher frame rates like the 670, I ain't too sure. My next upgrade will be a 120hz monitor.

Well i'm running bastion now at 1080 and the screen tear has magically disappeared. I'm definitely not running at 24fps, of that i'm sure when playing the likes of Serious Sam 3, bf3 etc at 1080 and i'm getting a constant 60 according to fraps and afterburner. The main culprit is arma 2 but as I mentioned a 120hz monitor was the next upgrade path, this gives me a better reason to get rid of this crappy tv and go for it asap.

Its a . . . . . Technika . . . . . 'hdready' lcd tv, couldn't afford a monitor at the time so left that to be my last buy. When the resolution automatically changes to 1080 in games the tv displays a message (1920x1080p @60hz) so im assuming its some what capable but i'm not denying that I need a proper 1080p monitor. I'm gonna try out playing at the native res in gaming, just tried it with metro 2033 and bastion and without a shadow of a doubt there's a difference.

Tesco's finest it is but believe me it was not originally bought to be a gaming pc display. Will a 120hz monitor sort this screen tear issue? I'm just a have that niggle seeing as I went for a b* grade gpu.

As mentioned iv'e tried a few games at the native res then changed it to 1080 and there's a big difference in quality. I'm pretty sure if I had it next to a true 1080p monitor it would lack considerably but there's no way i'm getting worse quality at 1080 than I am running native.

Yeah I realise this now but that doesn't stop the fact that i'm getting better picture quality than the native res. I'm fully aware i'm not playing at true 1080p and I now know the screen tear issues are more likely down to this crappy tv. No doubt that the gpu is being wasted on such a crap display but due to the info given this is to change a lot sooner rather than later.

Im sure when the tv is replaced with a proper 1080p monitor I will be shocked at the difference.
