Screen tearing problems, 5570 failure?

Hi everyone,

I have recently upgraded my computer and over the last week I am starting to have problems with it. What I get is random sort of tearing on Windows 7, even just on the desktop. They are horizontal and dont always go across the whole screen but it sort of vibrates sometimes too. I have also had crashes that freeze on my screen when playing FFXIV and running youtube in the background which forces me to reset.

I am using:

Asus Crosshair IV Formula
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.23ghz cooled with Titan Fenrir with a noctua fan
4GB RAM 1333Mhz
ATI VTX HD5770
600W PSU
4 Case fans on Antec P183, two Noctua fans and two stock
32" Toshiba Regza 1080P HD LCD

Anyone know whether this is likely my GPU failing, or a fresh install of W7 may be required?

Thanks for any ideas,

Poegle

Try enabling 'Vsync' in the ccc

Also, try the latest drivers? And maybe in games try lowering the settings? Also make sure all the connections are secure and you could try reseating the card.

Is the card new? If you can try it in another system and see what happens?

Well I have re-seated the card and reinstalled windows fresh, and got the latest drivers and its just started doing it again. Its not constant and its not while I am playing games, just while I am on the desktop or browsing for example.

Thing is my LCD TV is 1080p and CCC sees thats its highest setting, but windows says use 1368x768. I have a look around and I have read W7 sometimes does this but maybe its that?

Nothing is over heating my system is low temps, faulty card maybe?

Try the card in another system.
In the title you said 5570, but in the post you said 5770. If it's the 5770, what brand is the PSU? The 5770 might not be getting enough power.

Damn sorry I didnt see that. Yes its a 5770. I have stripped my PC out and removed my wires from the cable management at the side as everything was kind of tight and squashed, maybe it was too small.

Ill see how it goes for a while and hopefully it wont do it anymore

Download afterburner software.
Check ur temps and core speed in 3D and 2D environments.
Increase the fan speed and see if that solves the issue.
