Behind you... Naked!
I have a Laptop that I had sent off for repairs, and when it came back ,the screen has an annoying wibble on it.

It kind of comes and goes, but yesterday, I realised exactly why?

If the Power supply is connected, its fine, but without it, the screen wibbles.

What is the cause of this?

Well.... i would hazard a guess that its something to do with the repair , what did you have repaired ?

Without seeing the issue i would say its a grounding problem thats effecting only the screen as i would assume that if it was effecting everything you would be getting crashing and instability

That's weird, normally you'd expect that effect the other way around!

Maybe screen driver circuit struggling somewhat because of damage caused by the other repair? I'd send it straight back.

It went in because the power switch stopped working.

I wont go into details now, but the suppliers were being absolutely rotten with me about it since I bought it and I sent it off because the power button was funky and eventually it stopped starting up completely, but then they tried making out the motherboard was broken, and fater argueing about that, they then said its ok and it was just the button, and thankfully one of their customer support people read the notes and agreed with me, that I had complained about the power button only 3 weeks aftyer buying it ( He clearly made a mistake and they had been lying all the time with me, stating that there is nothing in my records about this ) and so it was proven to me, that they had lies throughout.

I did mention that the screen weas shaking and they said it was fine when they tested it, but then they obviously tested it wwith the PSU in it.

Had they tried it without a PSU, they would have seen the screen flicker.

I dont want to send it back, purely beause its clear to me, that their repair guys are total DELETED.

I was originally considering a refund, but as I said, I was in and out of hospital, and at the time, my main Laopt was all singing and all dancing and lit up like an xmas tree and so I bought this one to look as boring and cheap as possible... Plus, when I go out, I can take this and it just looks like a load of rubbish, while being a very high end one, kind of a put-off for any potential theif.
And so, I was using this as my main Laptop, and when it worked, it was flawless. As I was either in hospital, or in Costa having a coffee, I would mostly be uding it on the PSU anyway.

The only time I wasnt, was when I could not sit at my favourite spot near the socket. But the screen NEVER glitched once.

The other day I went to costa and the screen was glitcning like hell and then I moved and after a few minutes, I realised that the socket wwas behind me and so I plugged it an and thats when I instantly saw the flickering was gone... I poped the plug out and the flickering came back, put it back in and it was gone... I obviously realised it was down to the power supply being needed.

I have since ONLY used thhe PSU and the flickeriong has not come back.

Also, I bought the Laptop about 4 or 5 years ago, and so it is well out of the warranty.

My Eldest son and Daughter are both Starting in Uni in September and so I might just buy myself a new one and give this to her as he has another one of my I7 Laptops and so he is fine.

They have, or rather some of their customer support team have saidf to me, that they can have a look, but since I feel their tech guys are not up to par, I am worried... After all eve nthough the laptop is a few years old now, its still the most expensive Laptop that I have ever bought, as well as the only one I have bought brand new.

I no longer feel that I can trust them if I am honest.
