After a new monitor that is not of gloss type but still has a clear picture and not that awful over done anti-glare coating some screens have, any recommendations? £150-£250

BenQ currently use such a coating on some of their models - the EW2420 for example. I'm sure you've read a fair bit about that model as you are a long-time user of the forums? ;)

Where would I read up on the BenQ at, never been in the monitor forum before, are BenQ any good with their screens, do they use a coating that is not detectable to the eye.

There is a really long thread from not too long ago about the EW2420 but the main issues and some useful resources are discussed here. If you are an avid gamer (which I believe you are) then the responsiveness of the EW2420 could prove problematic. I wish manufacturers were more forthright about the exact coating used on the screens. There are some more responsive monitors than the EW2420 that use a similar coating (which is far less 'dulling' than full on matte coating) but I can't point to exact models. I believe they are fairly common on BenQ monitors and I've seen some fancy Samsung OLED prototypes with a similar coating but there must be more models out there! BenQ are a pretty decent manufacturer really but as you will see if you read about the EW2420 there seems to be a fair bit of variation between individual monitors of the same model.
