Screw Dilema!

Right this is really annoying me now, i was taking the heatsink off my hd 4850 to reapply thermal paste, put some on but i installed it the worng way so i took it off again, only to find that the things which the screws go into had come off along with the screw, it looks like a motherboard standoff, i have tried pliers to loosen the two and a few other things but to no sucsess this has now mucked up all my plans, please say i dont have to buy a new one

Have you got any pictures?

it sounds like you may have to buy an aftermarket cooler for it.

Is it possible to use a longer bolt/screw that will pass through the board and heatsink so you can put a nut and washer underneath (along with a soft non conductive washer against the board) ?

I have it attatched with 3 screws no as the last was being a ****, i then used akasa double sided thermal tape to attatch cleaned 1 p pieces to the Vram, i am ghoing to try this today then put a new heatsink on order i think .
