Think the little one has been trying too hard to open a door (standard hollow one) and has basically loosened the housing enough to pull the screws through their self-tapped thread. If the door was solid I'd be happy to wood filler it and stick everything back, but since it's a hollow door is that going to work?

I've also seen a suggestion of putting wood toothpicks through the holes to allow the screws to self tap again.

What do you think is my best bet?

Rawl plugs will work but will need to make the hole bigger first, other option is the male/ female bolts they use on door handles and go through both handles

rawplugs is a good shout, although QC doesn't seem to be great on reviews for various versions - people complain that the plugs are too small for the hole size they're designed for.

Cocktail and tooth picks have always been part of my toolkit since I had my first house in 1980 and I don't do jobs for other people unless they are in the back of the car.
Might not work on your job though.

My airing cupboard is a hollow door thats been chopped so the wood block where you normally have a handle is in the wrong place. I ended up cutting a slot out the side and putting in a block of wood to screw both handles to.

I've got hollow doors and have had the same problem. Ive used wooden matches instead of tooth picks and they have been solid since, and before an idiot reads this I removed the match head first...

As said there should be a solid block of chipboard where the handle goes. Hopefully it hasnt been put on the wrong way around and the handle is on the hollow bit as it will just keep coming loose no matter what you do.

You can pump some PVA into the holes or dip the screw in pva then gently tighten and leave and it should hold them in place.

Are you sure you don't have like six holes in the mounting plate on the rose and only three screws have been used, but they are just different ones each side so they don't hit each other?
