Now in open beta ... £13/€15/$20

no hotlinking images please

Game info from their website:
Hello!

I thought it would be nice to clarify what’s included in the Scrolls beta, and to clear up some questions I’ve received. Here we go!

What’s the deal with the “Beta” status?

On June 3rd, you’re able to purchase Scrolls for £13/€15/$20. It’s not feature complete, but there’s still plenty to get your teeth into. Buy it at this discounted price and you’ll get future updates for free. It’s like that other game, the one with Creepers.

The Store

This is where you get extra scrolls to pimp out your deck. Every item is available for gold. A few can also be purchased for shards – our real-money currency. It’s worth mentioning that shards are completely optional, and will never be required to stay competitive.

The Deck Builder

Custom decks are an integral part of Scrolls. Decks have to be at least 50 scrolls big, and can’t include more than three of the same type. Experiment! Mix factions as you please! Make mistakes then rectify them! It’s a blast.

Trading

Trading is a great way to meet fellow scrolldiers, and to get your hands on some of the rarer scrolls quickly. There’s a dedicated room for traders, so jump in there, have a chat, and swap like winners.

Trials

There are currently 25 trials in the game. They’re bespoke matchups designed to teach specific strategies, and completing every one is a feat that not all scrollsters will accomplish. The first time you complete a trial you’re awarded with a hefty amount of gold to spend in the store. There’s 9400 g up for grabs, plus the standard rewards for beating an AI opponent. Prove your worth!

Quick matches

You can play quick matches in both single player and multiplayer. When playing against the AI, there’s no time limit on your moves, and you get to select from three difficulty settings before the match begins. It’s a nice place to test out your new deck with minimum pressure before taking it online. As you’ve probably guessed, easy matches earn least gold. Multiplayer matches earn most.

Challenge matches

Despite the name, challenge matches aren’t necessarily more challenging than any other battle. You get to pick from the list of players logged into Scrolls and challenge someone to a match. Your first five matches each day grant gold; we restricted this to stop bad people exploiting the system and causing the economy to implode in a spectacular, but ultimately upsetting, market crash.
I currently can't get the store to load so I'll have to try again later :p

Anyone else considering picking this up?

I'm interested to hear how you find this though I'm not sure it's my kind of game. It's been a long time since I looked at anything that involved building decks :)

Picked it up last night, had a few games - can't even beat ai on easy. Starting deck feels so weak compared to anyone or anything I play. :( Maybe I'm just crap at it :p Seems to be a solid game though.

Be interested to see how this plays. MTG put be off because you can't build your own deck from scratch, kind of defeated the point of the whole thing.

I was interested; then I read how it was another of those games where you can pay for all the best stuff. Another pay-to-win game. Put me right off, fed up with so many of those!

Apparently this isn't true, a lot of people saying it's more pay 4 convience than anything. Game does look rather good though I must say, reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh.

I enjoy it, got a few annoying bugs, like getting stuck on the victory screen where the button doesn't work.

When you close and relaunch you have lost the progress sadly.
Other than that happening here and there( rare though ), I'm really enjoying it.

I hope it's not true in that case. Will watch for the player opinions to trickle in :)

There's a good video by Force explaining the shop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMeWKlR_7kc

At the minute you can get everything with in-game cash, and the only things you can buy with real money is the avatar stuff and weekly unique cards (there's only 6 a week with 2 being rare) most rares will come from the random scrolls/bundles which are only bought with in-game cash.

AKA pay 2 win until all the f2p people catch up...

Anyway £13 imo is to much for a game with an ingame real money shop

Saw Totalbiscuit speak highly of it in his WTF and it looked pretty fun. I will need to look into it more to see if you can construct decks. Never liked MGT duels where you were pretty restricted.

I used to do pox nora or whatever it was called :D
Had a bad ass deck with 2x 2 of the best cards you could get in the same deck lmfao, used to make people rage when the game loaded and they saw what I had :D

I saw it too but he openly admitted he had a soft spot for TCG's so it may influence is overall picture of the game.
For me it doesnt really do much tbh, it looks ok dont get me wrong but the convenience idea theyre dodging this pay2win accusation is a pretty big deal for me as getting stomped by players online who have paid or forever grinding out gold on the limited amount of offline levels in order to buy random cards just doesnt seem much fun at all.
I may have given it a go at £5 or something but as the wow based one is free ill wait it out or pick up my first TCG with the big one if MTG pops up on a sale somewhere again.
(I could be way off the mark, ive only seen a few vids on the game!)

Caved in to get this and enjoying it a lot. New to TCG's so I have a noobie question; I see that your deck can be over 50 but no less, so is the general idea to just keep your deck near 50 so there's a large % chance of getting the cards you want for your strat?

Yup, the leaner it is the more likely you get to pull exactly what you want/need.

I think 55 might be a nice number, especially if you want a few extra rare's in there without losing too many low lvl cards.
I really enjoy the game, I can't wait for more and more to be added.

Works really well in OS X, only had two problems, both were related to the server not responding.

I got it working and have played a few games.

Order seems weak from what I can see. Their cards are just objectively worse. Growth cards have insane synergy, and if you compare cards the order ones with similar effects are just plain worse.
