If the bumper doesn't match, you could get a full respray to match the bumper.
Don't you own a soft top? :SMy car has probably been in the sun for no more than 1 week during its entire life.
It’ll match I have no doubt about that, hasn’t been in the sun for long enough for it to affect the paint. If the bumper doesn't match, you could get a full respray to match the bumper.
I do but when I bought it I didn’t anticipate how little driving in the sun I’d actually do. I have no regrets.Don't you own a soft top? :S
Paint shades can vary between batches it's another reason it needs blending some times. It should match but it's not a sure thing. It’ll match I have no doubt about that, hasn’t been in the sun for long enough for it to affect the paint.
Anyway this is all hearsay as I’m not likely to get it done. It’s not worth it and I should be pleased with the results I got using Meguiars Ultimate Compound. It turned a medium level scrape into a minor one.Paint shades can vary between batches it's another reason it needs blending some times. It should match but it's not a sure thing.
Can’t say I’ve got any complaints with how the bumper currently matches the rest of the car, so if a new bumper was the same then I’d have no complaints. Just need to stop looking at it, it’s not going to get any better or worse and I’m just worrying about nothing. It's difficult to get plastic bumpers to match the car. They don't even match perfectly out of the factory most of the time.
I measured the scratch it’s 3.5cm long or 1.37 inches. It would probably be covered by my comprehensive insurance and my excess is £100. In India for example if it’s less than 3 inches long or 1/4” deep than it is considered cosmetic and not covered.![]()
am I reading this right? You want a new bumper, which will have mismatching paint, to solve a 1" scratch in the lacquer? Is that what's going on?
Yeah I’m not intending to claim just stating the facts, in fact I’m not going to do anything about it, it’s minor and looking at other people’s cars a high percentage of them have some sort of cosmetic damage. I am not alone. Why would you claim for that?
Just shows that my scratch which is less than 3 inches long or 1.4” deep is only cosmetic. Well according to the Indian insurers.Based on the driving in India they'd have worse than that as soon as it rolled out of the dealership.
Not sure what it's got to do with this though.
Any scratch is only cosmetic.Just shows that my scratch which is less than 3 inches long or 1.4” deep is only cosmetic. Well according to the Indian insurers.
If it’s seriously damaged it’s more than cosmetic. Cosmetic means just that, cosmetic in other words not serious.Any scratch is only cosmetic.
If I key all the way along your car it's still cosmetic regardless of it being 5ft long or whatever. If it’s seriously damaged it’s more than cosmetic. Cosmetic means just that, cosmetic in other words not serious.
True but keying a car usually results in a thin scratch which isn’t that bad.If I key all the way along your car it's still cosmetic regardless of it being 5ft long or whatever.
Yes, a little difficult. but NOT impossible. It's difficult to get plastic bumpers to match the car. They don't even match perfectly out of the factory most of the time.
Yay! Finally some positivity. When you measure the scratch closeup in my second photo it is 4.5 inches but in reality it’s only 1.37 inches. The closeup photo makes it look much bigger than it is.Yes, a little difficult. but NOT impossible.
