Holy smoke have you seen Sculptors output rocket since he went down the SMP route

I may have to load Linux onto my E6600. I was holding out with windows for the GPU client when my x1950pro eventually arrives.

I am now in a dilemma what to do!?!

I make in 2 weeks what he makes in a day (if I'm lucky). There's no question as to what you should do from where I stand.

I think you may be very right ;)

Just got to get a wireless adapter for my E6600 that is compatible with Ubuntu. Walmart here I come :p

indeed it is, just read the SMP FAQ over at stanford at it says they are working on a 32bit version of the client. So everyone with Xeon's watch out for that one!

Got it running on my Xeon (dual booting with windows), and now loaded onto my E6600. Completing a frame every 4.5 minutes on the E6600. Should give a ppd of approx 2000 :p

Gah, I love and hate this new SMP client. Nearly every man and his dog seems to be pulling Xeons out the woodwork.

Give me enough money and Id buy a fleet of the new C2D Xeons! :D

well my xeons are only pretonia's so 32bits only so as far as i understand i can't run the SNP client as its a 64 app.

let me know if i'm wrong though

You are correct. I hope a 32-bit client is on the way as my Prestonias want to get in on the action as well. :D

I should seriously consider dual booting ubuntu perhaps...
Although i'm completely lost on linux so i'd likely need some help.

i'll be dual booting this machine with ubuntu as soon as the 32 bit smp client is released so that my dualie can pump out more PPD. everything i do at the moment i could do in ubuntu which means the SMP client would be up 95% of the time :)

Come on stanford compile that client, at least give us a beta!

I am not a knowledgeable as Mr Impaler, however I know my way around enough to get it working. So I can give some help too if necessary :)

I just finished a neat little script which starts folding on boot. Also you can stop and start it from the cmd line.

I am also monitoring my linux box from my windows box with Fahmon.

I need more machine to SMP :D

Ok, finished 3 units in 25 hours on my e6600 box (running at 3.46)

1 x 3022 @ 658pts
1 x 3026 @ 691pts
1 x 3024 @ 652pts

= 2001pts in 25 hrs

(2001/25) * 24 = 1920.96ppd :D

Tried to put ubuntu on however anytime I connect the IDE drive I want to install it on it won't boot from the live cd just sticks on the flash screen. Unplug the thing and it boots up fine into ubuntu can't be the IDE controller not being fully supported as the cd drive is on the same one, not the drive as its fine in windows so gave up trying to sort this so hopefully putting Fedora on tomorrow to see if I can get SMP working as I keep getting those nasty 2124 & 2125 workunits.
