I've been weaning myself off MMO addiction by, er, getting myself addicted to the retro scene.

Have any of you discovered the delights of SCUMMvm? (Check out www.scummvm.org )

Even on Vista x64, I'm now able to play all my old LucasArts/LucasFilm games - Monkey Island 1, 2 and 3; Indiana Jones 3 and 4; Day of the Tentacle; Loom; Maniac Mansion; The Dig; Full Throttle; Simon the Sorceror 1 and 2; Beneath a Steel Sky; Lure of the Temptress - I'm sure I may have missed a few! (There are several non-Lucas games in there - the project expanded its scope somewhat.)

Note: I'm old and own all of these games - you can't legally play them otherwise...

It's available for an incredible variety of platforms too - PS2, PSP, DS, Symbian, *nix - you name it. Awesome piece of kit.

I been playing Beneath a Steel Sky on my Nokia N810. Its pretty awesome! Takes me right back.

I played through Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis a few months ago, had never played them before and I loved them. :)

Oh and Full Throttle.

Got beneath a steel sky and sam & max on my N95. Had to fish out the cd for sam & max but I think beneath a steel sky is "properly" free (got that cd anyway but it's downloadble from the website)

Never really bothered to play them though as it's a bit awkward on a phone

Yeah its awesome.

You can actually buy enhanced versions of Full Throttle & Sam And Max for XP but they should work on Vista as well. Only major difference is that they also have slightly enhanced gfx. One of the original programmers was re-hired by Lucasarts to redo them a few years ago. Lucasarts Entertainment Pack is the name of the release as it also includes The Dig & Grim Fandango so you get 4 for the price of less than 1 game. But not sure if it looks any better than ScummVM with filters on anyway but Full Throttle is a little buggy in places under ScummVM....

Still have all the original PC copies of all these Lucasarts games and it just shows you how far they have fallen when you look back at these earlier games compared to now.

Also well worth getting the original copies of Monkey Island on CD for PC as it includes a full reggae soundtrack plus enhanced game menu icon gfx (the original floppy release had none) and Loom CD for PC as it has full speech all of this you can incorporate into ScummVM as well by converting to MP3 then copying into the ScummVM game folder and it will do the rest.

If you like ultra rare stuff try and track down the FM Towns CD versions of Zak McKraken & Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade as both work on ScummVM as well but are very rare (only Japanese versions ever made for the FM Towns console with english onscreen text option so you can understand it) have full CD soundtracks and enhanced gfx (over the floppy disk versions). These have been known to go for up to £400 each!!

Are you restricted in tentacle due to the piracy measures? I wondered that, as i remember you had to enter a code from the manual at one point.

Restricted? In what way? Can't say I had any issues when I played it.

Mind you that was over a year ago.

I've been using scummVM for ages and it's awesome, really love it. It's great to play all the old games again, i love playing monkey island 1, amazing game.

i use on it on my iphone. I loooove Broken Sword and Monkey Island.

Cool!, i didn't know you could get it for the iphone. Does it need to be jailbroken tho?.
