Scythe Infinity Heatpipe CPU Cooler

Bound to beat the Ninja, as its the same design with more fins.
SPCR will be reviewing it soon and then we can compare it to the Ninja, Thermalright Ultra 120 and Tuniq tower, however i believe it will beat them all.

Any1 tried an infinity on an ASUS M2N32SLI mobo??? I am seriously thinking of getting the infinity.

Any reviews out there comparing to say Zalman 9500, Ultra-120 etc.

Do you reckon you can slap on an extra fan on the other side so it works in a push/pull configuration??? I think it comes with 1 fan right?

Jules

I'm sure you can put a fan on any side as it has grooves in each corner for the fan clips like the ninja.

Very few reviews and very few people that have tried it currently as its very new. Spcr will soon be able to tell us if its beats the Ultra 120, i suspect it will.

O dear the ninja is still better

Indeed, and I had no idea it still used the plastic lugs!!!! Jeez, they aren't overly strong.

I'd be very very worried of it snapping and ripping it's way through the insides of my PC.

Is it?

Nevertheless, we should stress that these results apply specifically to low airflow situations that are of interest to silencers. It seems quite likely that the Infinity could reverse the standings if the two were tested with a noisy, high speed fan, as it would be helped by its larger size and the closely spaced fins around the heatpipes.
This heatsink will beat the Ninja with a high speed fan. So those using low airflow fans should get the Ninja, and those using high airflow fans should use the Infinity.
This being an overclockers forum with many users suffering the noise of fans such as the delta which moves 180cfm compared to the 40ish of the fans spcr used, i would say for the majority of people here the infinity will be better whereas for the majority of spcr readers the ninja will be better.
It all depends on the fan.

yes but who is going to buy a monster cooler just to put a loud fan on it

Well you wouldn't buy a tiny cooler to put a loud fan on. Anyone who wants the best performance from air with a high airflow fan will buy it.
But having said that, it is a bit of a dissapointment, and this means for lower airflow fans the Thermalright Ultra 120 remains best.

They said 'quite likely', not 'will'.

if those results are anything to go by, i cant see how you come to that conclusion?

going from 5v to 12v on the ninja results in an improvement of 0.6c/w. doing the same with the infinity with the same fan reults in only a 0.4 c/w reduction.

Logically, goping by those results the ninja actually improves more with a high speed fan. can you prove otherwise or are you just guessing?
