hey people ive got a scythe musashi on my 5850 which performs excellent runs so much cooler and quieter than the stock cooler.

BTW the stock reference cooler on the xfx 5850 was running at 50 degrees at 25% fan in games it went up to 70 degrees with the fan at 40% which was very loud could hear it over the games

the scythe musashi runs idle at 32 degrees and on load 45 degrees and its whisper quiet at 100% fan spped.

the question i have is
Is there any way to disconnect the fan controller that comes attached to this cooler as i would like to control the fans through speedfan or something similar.
its a pain to reach behind the pc everytime i want to turn up the fans.

Provided you have a controllable motherboard header it should be possible to mod the musashi wiring so that it can fit and be controlled. That said I don't know what the wiring of the musashi is like so I'm guessing here.

I'm not sure if Speedfan could use your GPU temp as a reference either, you might just be stuck with CPU temps.
