ok i need some ideas please on how to attach a fan to my scythe ninja.

i tryed for hours and hours trying to get the metal brackets on it comes with and it just wouldnt go on. i didnt want to force it as i stupidly put the cooler on my motherboard befor attaching the fan. well i put the motherboard in my case befor attaching the cooler its self which was a bit silly.

some images of my situation.

im trying to put a fan on as its coming summer time. alltho at the moment its 20c in my room and it idles 30c still and 55c full load. but i remember last summer my room went up to 28-32c

edit : woooot!!!! its my 600th post :D lol!

Put the brackets into the slot on the HS and then slip the end bits over the screw hole in the fan, this works but takes some force. Don't put the ends on the brackets on the fan and then try to slip the brackets onto the heatsink as they won't bend that far.

It's fiddly but it will go on!

I fitted 2 fans to mine while it was installed -

Just keep on trying. It's the most secure method as rubber banks will perish and drop off (not what you want!) and zip tie's clamp down too hard sometimes (you wouldn't wanna damage your ninja!).

I always loop the bracket into the bottom hole of the fan (closest to the mobo) then slip the bracet into the groove on the ninja. Once in you can simply stretch the top of the bracket to get it in the fans other screw hole. Repeat for the other side of the fan making sure to hold the fan in place while you do otherwise it will spring back out!

even looking at it, it looks hard to get them on.

how much force do they need to clip on tho i was liturally about to snap them or somthing and i didnt get them on when i tryed

oooo iv got it on now using the clip things.

but you know the V shape bits that point inwards when you place the brackets on.

i accidently put the bottom one facing down instead of up. will it matter?

it feels fairly strong and stable tho

A little bit of force is needed. The trick is to get the bottom clip on the fan then loop the main span of the clip into the groove on the ninja. Once you've done that (which is very simple and requires no force) you apply force to the top clip (closest to you as you mount it) to click it into the fans screw hole.

At that point i always find that instead of pulling the bent section of the clip i simply hold the clip and use my thumb to apply pressure at the base of the v (formed by the bend in the clip) which straightens it out enough to clip it into place.

Give that a try... any more questions just ask! :)

Great job!

No, doesn't really matter. Just doesn't look as tidy! Does the same job though mate so don't worry!

Let us know how your temps benefit from the fan! ;)

by the way you know when you have a can of air like a duster, and ice some times fires out of it when you hold it upside down. i have a idea for a scythe ninja overclocking edit. when overclocking freeze the ninja using the can of air :D lol

Edit: im running the fan at 800rpm and its gone from 30c to 26c emagine if i turned it up full :D

iv got all my 6, 12cm fans on silent tho :) + one 25cm fan

edit: iv just used orthos for 3 mins exact and my temps didnt go over 48c :D
and thats in a 20c room with all fans on silent :D im amazed hehe

Hi paul,

I contacted scythe to ask where i could buy an extra set and despite the fact that i was contacting the TW office they got in touch with the UK distributor and had them send a set to me for free! Was absolutely astonished - very nice service indeed!

Give it a try! ;)
