A quick question mid build....

Building my new Conroe Rig - E6600 on a Gig. DS4 MB.
Done plenty of home builds before. Parts mirror recommendations on forums.

I think I have a problem with the Ninja's fan starting?

The PC's starting up fine but using the motherboard cpu fan power, the Ninja's fan almost starts up (small movement) but then doesn't. Will start fully if you give it a spin. The Fan seems fine?

The fan works fine if I use alternative power source.

Question - Do I have a problem? OR is it the motherboard clever and only starts up the fan if the CPU heat builds? I'd hate to fiddle for much longer to find out it's a 'feature' !

Cheers

the fan might be too much for the motherboard header to take, not sure if this is the case with newer motherboards. have you tried plugging it into a molex?

EDIT - didnt read the post properly, you have tried a molex. then its beacuse your mobo cant take that much fan on the header :)

By the way, on PC Health, the DS4 has a setting for Fan. Set it to disable and it goes full tilt 24/7

Yes the fan will only spin if it needs to cool the CPU otherwise there is no need too

Thanks for your suggestions...

It will start when I play with the BIOS settings for the fan. I'll play with them more over the next day or so.

Can't see the Scythe Ninja needing fan until I do more to stress the CPU so I'll just keep an eye on it. Just booting into BIOS etc at the moment.

Cheers
