just spotted these in the fans/other section, looking for a bit more oomph over these akasa silent 19db ones i have so i would be getting the 1600rpm scythes at 28db plugged into my fan controller. anyone got these? what kind of 28db is it? high and winey or low and hummy?

sure will :) hoping for the same kind of low noise as my akasa ambers at about 1200-1400rpm and then on the hot days i can turn them up to 1600rpm for 20cfm more and a bit more noise, we'll see.

ok just stuck them in, on the front of my akasa eclipse i fitted it using "Acousti Fan Mounts" rubber things that hold it in place, couldnt manage to get access to do the same on the rear so i used the supplied screws but i cant tell the difference in sound between the two.

sound wise at 1400rpm they sound pretty much like the akasa ambers, barely audible, at 1600rpm its a more noticable neutrel whirring/humming so theyre exactly what i was hoping for.

both plugged into an akasa fan controller, the front is at 1410rpm and the rear at 1440rpm. between 1500rpm and 1600rpm the noise is most noticible in my system above all the other fans, but not too bad.

case temp with the scythes is 35c with a room temp of 28c
earlier with the akasas it was 38c with a room temp of 30c

so im guessing maybe a tiny smidge more cfm at 1440rpm than the akasa ambers with near same noise but with more there if i need it. if the other fans in your system arnt as audible as mine maybe youll notice more difference? dunno.

thumbs up from me so far :)

Heh, looks good for you.

My SilverStone 111CFM monsta fan is noisy at 2400RPM, yet silent at 1200 RPM.

Gotta love fan control.
