Hi Peeps

I would like some advice on what SD cards I should buy.

I have a Nikon D40 with standard lens and a Class 6 4Gb Sandisk Extreme SD Card. I use it mostly on holiday , I bought it a few years ago cheaply hoping to find the time to develop some photography skill.

I have just bought a Nikon Coolpix AW110 water proof shock proof compact camera/video recorder to capture pics of our new born on something better than a smart phone but more portable than the D40.

I've done a little research on SD cards but have limited experience. I don't know if my current card is slowing down my shooting with the D40. I also don't know what I need to capture the Full Hd on the Coolpix.

I was thinking of getting a twin pack of 32Gb cards or maybe a 64Gb and 16Gb giving me a good video capacity on the Coolpix and huge capacity on the D40.

I assumed I should aim for class10 but don't really know. I'm not ultra price conscious but don't want to ridiculously over specify.

The pictures and video will potentially be viewed on a 55" full HD plasma from my NAS so I will probably record at max resolution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My memory have them @ £23 ** no competitor links ** but also worth doing a search, as even the likes of Dixons have offers now & again.

Edit; I'd stay clear of fleabay etc, there are reports of quite a few dodgy cards being sold.

As photopixels states Ebay is full of useless copies, stick with Mymemory or Amazon but ensure their fulfilled by Amazon and not a marketplace seller.

Pesonally I use these ** no competitor links ** Holds over 500 RAW files from my Canon 550d or 2000 18mp jpegs, never had a problem with with speed when using video either.

Split your cards and have several smaller cards just in case you lose one, less data lost.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've ordered a 16Gb and a 32Gb class 10 30MBs San disk ultra. The savings for slower cards were barely worth it, but the next steps up got really expensive really quick.
