Evening all, looking at a cheap and simple option of backing up cards while out and about, I have a HDD and Card reader I carry with me if I'm going to be using a lot of cards, just looking for options in joining the two while out and about? Ive looked at netbooks, tablets etc on ebay and Ive also thought maybe a Rasberry Pi could be an option. This would solely be used as an inbetween for the HDD and SD cards and nothing else.

Thanks

Most elegant solution is to buy a camera with dual card slots. Buying a tablet or laptop as an in-between doesn't really make sense when you could just copy the sd card to the laptop directly. It's not what I'd call cheap and simple either. :p

You can get portable hard drives that have copy functions on then. I have a Thecus YES Nano N1050 which is quite basic compared to some will let me plug a camera directly into it and backup all photos from the sd card. It has a USB mains cable and also a battery pack so it can be used while out and about

This enclosure looks exactly what I'm after, but I cant seem to find it on sale anywhere? reviews date it at around 2007, any idea on new equivalent enclosure searches have turned up nout.

The photo safe II or Hyperdrive maybe alternatives. The Thecus is a fair few years old and was bought as a caddy only

There a large website that sells lots of 'extreme' 'deals' of things straight from China. They have loads of different HDD enclosures of this kind. I was browsing them the other days as I'm looking for something similar for an upcoming holiday trip.
