Hi

I've ordered my D50 but i was wondering how big the SD card i get for storing pictures should be? I've looked on OcUK and i can afford upto 1GB will the camera take that? Should i get 2 512? or do i need that much space will 128-256mb be enough?

Thanks

Andy

It really depends how much you expect to use the camera before you can get back to a PC but I'd go with as much as you can afford. You'll be looking at about 3Mb per image for JPEGs so call it 350 shots per Gb.

Personally I carry about 12Gb of cards with me (yes, I have used that much in one day before!)

If the camera does RAW modes, then half the numbers of shots again as these are double the size of the jpeg files. So 330ish jpegs roughly gives you 165ish RAW pictures per Gb.

As others say, it all depends on your shooting preferences.
On an average day shooting I get through a gig of RAW shots. But I have two with me, just incase - and I've filled that before, so I want to get some more. Try to get faster stuff if you can, it does make a nice difference.
