SD card problem

I have a panasonic lumix fx-01 and a Patroit 2gb sd card. I am getting a strange error where my camera cannot read the pics on it, but my girlfriends camera can. But it won't let me transfer them to a computer, saying the file or directory is corrupt.

Is there anything I can do?

Try formatting the card - either on the PC - or in a different camera?

You'd lose the pics tho.

I am trying various recovery programs. One told me how many pics I could recover if i paid $50 for a license. So I will just keep trying to find recover programs that work and are free.
