My recent camera upgrade has seen me move from CF to SD cards. I purchased some Sandisk Ultra II 2GB cards, to make sure I got the most from my camera. I foolishly assumed my current reader will be fine.

I have a Mitsumi floppy/card reader installed in my rig, and its worked great, but it will not read my Sandisk card. My laptop reads the card, my old HP external reader reads the card, but the one in my rig will not. I got a smaller SD card with the camera (16mb ) and it reads that fine.

I therefore assume that the higher speed, higher capacity cards have a slightly different spec. If I pick a new reader up on the way home, how can I check it will be OK with the newer cards? Is there anything in the spec I need to look for?

The newer SD cards need a reader that can do SDHC (i.e. high capacity) so look for that on the list of compatible cards. It will be backwards compatible to SD also.

Doh!

If I was not still slightly hungover, I could have probably worked that one out!!

Thank you :)
