SD Cards etc won't read/work in Vista

As per title. Also, other cards like XD won't work either. I plug/push them in, and no "auto-play" or anything - nothing. Do i need to download Vista drivers for my card-reader? It's a laptop, not sure the make of the reader though. Worked in windows XP though

Yep ... you need drivers.

Tried updating the drivers in device manager, but says i have the latest available

EDIT: laptop is a Toshiba A100, and it says in the manual: Installed on this pc, "TOSHIBA SD memory card format utility"
