SD37P2 - No Power

Ok this has got me stumped. Just built a SD37P2 system with an e6600 and 8800GTS. System booted first time, temperatures etc all fine. Install vista on it and again all fine, fully updates etc. Must have been turned on and off a couple off times and everything was ok. Move it approximately 60cm to make the cables tidy and now there is absolutely no signs of power. Tried different power cables and a CMOS reset etc but no joy.

Any ideas?

There was no cloud of smoke etc it's just lifeless....

Hehe, yeah I checked it. Good suggestion though!

I've managed to get it to occasionally start by moving it around (can't be more specific then that sadly) so I'm wondering if there is something loose inside or a short etc. Didn't get any beeps etc when it did start so I'm still thinking power/a short is the problem.

Ok very weird this. It will work fine then as soon as you unplug it from the wall and plug it back in it will be completely dead. Tried it with a 6800GT to see if the 8800GTS was drawing too much power and it's exactly the same. I'll try the RAM next but I'm leaning towards it being a tempermental power supply.


EDIT: Hmmm now it seems to be fine with the 6800GT, I maybe spoke too soon. Going to try the 8800GTS in another machine but looks like it is either faulty/drawing too much power. I know other people have 8800GTS which work fine in the SD37P2 though....

EDIT2: Ok it works regardless of setup after you turn it on and off at the socket a couple of times. Now what does that indicate?!?

Bah, this could get annoying quickly!



EDIT: Ok it has got annoying! I figure this doesn't affect every SD37P2 out there otherwise there'd be more mention of it so I'm going to try an RMA and see what the next one is like.

Ok just an update, got the replacement shuttle today and it all works fine so it must have been a PSU/motherboard fault. --ki-- you might want to have a look at your warrantee!
