I'm about to order my iPhone, probably officially through O2 with the £35 a month tariff. Once the SDK comes out will it remove a lot of the need to jailbreak?

I assume the main role of jailbreaking is to allow you to run the iphone on non-official O2 contracts. But I assume with the SDK coming out it'll increase the numbers of apps that you can use?

All the SDK will do is allow 3rd Party Apps to be run on the iPhone. If you want to run on the non O2 iPhone tarrifs in the UK then you will stil need to jailbreak your iPhone.

TBH, I am on the £35 tarriff and with the new 600 mins 500 texts is more then enough for me. I also use it a lot for the data side, probably more then the voice with a .Mac mail account so as I would have lost the cloud wifi access and data with a non iPhone tarrif it wasn't worth jailbreaking for me, personally.
