SDR and HDR

I recently heard that with modern OLED monitors it is a mistake to switch Windows between HDR and SDR based on the application you are using, in that Monitors are now designed specifically so that Windows is left in HDR mode all the time.
Does anyone know if this is true?

I always switch to SDR when not gaming as I have the SDR display settings all configured to make the picture as comfortable on the eyes as possible.

Win + Alt + B is the Win 11 HDR on/off shorcut.

No it’s not true and you’re likely to face a range of issues or limitations if you do. It’s the number one mistake I see people making all the time
