SE W810i unlocking?

I have a SE W810i on an o2 contract. I heard from a friend that these phones can be made to run faster by doing some kinda unlocking thingy. As you can tell I am totally new to this.

Is this possible? How is it done?

Nothing to do with unlocking, what your talking about is called de-branding which is getting rid of all the network crap they install on it. Now 2 things as far as i know O2 are very minimal in their branding compared to the other 3 who really do butcher a phone. Also o2 phones are sim free ie not locked to their particular network unlike the other 3.

I have a tmobile w810i which i had unlocked for about £5 through a mate of mine, only because the phone couldnt be used with another network sim..damn you tmobile

. I also de-branded it via the link Devo posted but i did mine quite some time ago.
