have a 300mbs transfer rate as i cant seem to find any information on the drive itself other than its Sata II...

Also

Are leads that are branded as Sata II any better than Sata I or are they a con!!

Thanks in advance guys and girls

No mechanical hard drive is able to achieve a sustained transfer rate of anywhere close to 300Mb/s. The best you'll get is about 125Mb/s from a Seagate Cheetah 15Krpm SCSI drive.

Both of those linked drives will give you a burst transfer rate (from the onboard cache) of close to 300Mb/s but the sustained rate will be around 80Mb/s at best.

There's no difference between the cables, some have a wee metal clip which can reduce the chances of it becoming loose but even that's a bit of a con to be honest.
