Recently put my new system together with a Seagate Barracuda Green 3.5" 3gb/s HDD. My problem is that it seems to sound like a hard drive from the early 2000. All the crackling and such. Is that suppose to be normal for a SATA drive? My previous IDE drive made pretty much no noise.

A modern drive (especially a "green" one) should be pretty quiet.

Have you made sure it's securely fixed?

While I'm here please fix your sig.

It's set on the rails provided by the HAF 912+ case. I've tried putting my finger on it to see if it was vibrating or moved around but it seems to be securely fit. There is nothing abnormal about the sound it just sounds like an old computer. Obviously not as loud but still the noise is there. Is there any way to test if its a faulty drive?
