My 320gb 7200 RPM SATA II Barracuda hard drive will be arriving tomorrow. Ive read the reviews, and they mention removing a jumper on the back to get it to its full speed. First, does this require any technical know how, and second, does it void the warranty?

It's just a case of removing a small plastic thing from the pins on the back using some tweezers.

I doubt it voids the warranty because otherwise how would anyone switch their drive between master and slave.

Its pretty simple, youll manage it fine

Question, i'm assuming that enables the acoutsic management?

Does that work on all the Seagate Barracuda drives, ie my 7200.7?

No, i believe it changes it from SATA-150 to SATA-300. I think Acoustic managment is done in the firmware omehow, check the manufacturers website for a utility.
Acoustic managment tends to slow the drive down a touch.

Nah i was imformed that they don't give the option to enable or disable it.

There software doesnt give the option either, just an error checking program.
