I purchased a Seagate 300GB Barracuda from OCs on the 3rd of Jan 2012 and it failed a couple of days ago.

Is there only a 1 year warranty on these drives? If so. do I just have to take this one on the chin or is there something I can do to get a replacement. Even if I cant get a replacement a discount on a replacement would be nice!

Any options for me?

think you can check if its in warranty or not on seagates website or through seatools, think you enter the drives serial number

some have one year some have longer as far as I know?

It's probably got 2 years in Europe. Check on the Seagate website - they have a warranty checker as already mentioned.

A quick search on the web reveals most Seagate Barracuda drives come with a 5 year limited warranty, but do as others have suggested and check the serial number on their site :)

Should still have warranty but as said you can check on their site. My 3tb drive died 2 days ago which was bought Sep 2012. The Seagate warranty checker said it was under warranty until Nov 2014.

I enter the serial and model number on the website and get the following:

"The product you identified was sold as a system component. Please contact your place of purchase for service. Seagate sells many drives to direct OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers. These products are usually configured for the OEMs only, as components for their systems. You must contact your place of purchase for any warranty support on these drives."

So do I have to contact OCs directly?

*Edit* The model I have is

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-256-SE

Which states 1 year warranty... Looks like I am screwed :(
