My bedroom has Victorian sash windows and there are gaps where the two parts of the window join creating a draft.

What is the best way to cure this?

Note - the window in question does NOT need to be opened. I open another window which doesn't have the problem quite as bad.

Don't silicone windows you'll live to regret it, seriously try selotape or 1" duct tape, you can faf around with draft seal first you can buy rolls of it to suit the gaps

Make sure you have heavy curtains

We have sash windows in our living room, at a high point in Liverpool and we get some windage. We just have a really thick pair of curtains, and while it doesn't stop the draft, it stops us losing quite so much heat.

I say this because we're renting, and I'm not paying to have some other guys sash windows fixed because he is cheap. So just as an alternative for doing work for someone, or possibly doing damage and losing a deposit.

There's probably wind blowing in through the part/staff beads as well, you can get the special fluffy inserts for them. I've refurbed hundreds of the b*ggers over the last few years, Oxford is full of them in the uni buildings :-/
