Seals on Xbox One box

I've just opened up the parcel that my Xbox One Titanfall edition came in to check everything is there. I pealed the stickers off that hold the Titanfall sleeve on and noticed that the two seals that should keep the Xbox One sealed have been cut neatly with a knife so that the actual box the Xbox One is in isn't sealed.

Before I go ripping the lot apart is this normal for an Xbox One game edition type one? I am assuming that the box seals may have been cut open to put either a Titanfall disk inside or info on how to download it?

Broken seals ring alarm bells to me so I just want to check this is the norm before I unpack it all.

Cheers

Mine was like this. As you said, the seller would have already had the Xbox and was sent the Titanfall overlay cover with the download code, so would have opened the original box to drop in the card.

Thanks for the quick reply. Annoyingly I'm away this weekend but now I will have peace of mind when I do get around to opening the box up and setting it up next week.

Cheers

I had this on mine and the PS4. Where I bought mine, they take a record of the serial numbers for warranty/returns purposes.

Shouldn't worry too much. As long as the internal packaging all looks undisturbed like no broken Sellotape seals or opened bags and the console is wrapped in that foam/spongy paper stuff then you should be fine.

Blimey, I wouldn't even notice something like this, let alone stop setting things up to check out it's ok.

I always check when buying gadgets, never know if you've got a customer return, ex display or 'opened for any reason' item. Unless there is a good reason, items that are sold as 'brand new sealed' should be sealed at the factory and remain that way up to the point of receiving it.

Used to work for a certain purple shirt wearing retail store so I know what goes on in those warehouses. Customer returns faulty item and it goes back out on the shelf springs to mind! :(

Mine was the same: The console seal (clear, round sticker, about an inch in diameter) had been very carefully cut (almost didn't notice it). Then there was another seal placed almost directly over it, but covering the Titanfall sleeve as well. Several other people have reported (on the HUKD forum) exactly the same findings.

Suggests to me the console (without sleeve) was opened and something placed inside (Titanfall paperwork). Then the sleeve was placed around the box and the whole thing resealed.

I didn't open it up until I'd asked around (HUKD), for the same reasons as you and it seems it was quite common. I'm not sure if it was specific to a certain retailer, or across the board.

I was expecting an official Titanfall package to be sealed. But it would appear the retailer (at least the one from which I bought) appeared to be opening up regular Xboxs, inserted the Titanfall bumf, then stuck on a Titanfall sleeve. All a bit bizarre and gave me pause for thought.

All the stuff inside was sealed and unused. Registering the console online gave a June/July 2015 warranty date.

Nope, that's not what happens. The boxes come sealed from the distributor, there are no sleeves or anything sent out. Changing it from one SKU to another would upset inventory.
