Is there such a thing as a search engine that doesn't "guess" what you are searching for???

I am so tired of trying to find stuff. I normally use Duck Duck, which I believe uses Bing, but they all seem to be the same. And I don't mean SEO, or spam either. They don't search for what you type in, they interpret what you mean and search for that. But, in many cases, they aren't searching for the right thing.

if you need a specific phrase "search for in in quotations", it's meant to then look for that phrase exactly - if that's what you need?

Can you give examples of what you're referring to? Like a given search and a given response.

A lot of search is utter junk because of SEO and ads. Its quite astonishing how bad it is. I have honestly been using ChatGPT for a huge amount of stuff lately because it might give you crap answers but they are often in the right ballpark and even if you don't get quite what you are after you can nudge it in the right direction. You can spend a lot of time reading google search result websites and find nothing but junk.

Your mileage may vary massively depending on what you are searching for. Simple objective answers? Google is usually fine. Somewhat fuzzy question? I have given up on most search engines. I moved away from Chrome in light of their changes to block ublock and the search engine built into Brave is utter junk.

You're not kidding. I basically put some variation of "Reddit" or "forum" etc after everything I search for just to try and get around the number of terrible AI websites that come up at the top of the searches.

I've been using Brave search for last 12 months and it's been good so far, on the very rare occasion it can't find it you can use 'bangs' the same as you can on ddg.
