Searching for an old email on exchange server 2007

I'm looking for an email which was sent roughly 5 years ago. 'Message tracking' only bring up recent emails, so, does anyone know how i can go about finding this email on exchange server 2007? I've done a google search, but not had much luck as yet. Unfortunately, i can't find it within anyone's archieve pst on their PC's.

Exchange 2007 was not even out then, so it wont of gone through any kind of message tracking in your existing infrastructure afaik.
 
If you know who sent it you could try giving yourself permissions on their mailbox and seeing if their sent items go back that far, unlikely though.

just as i thought. I've already had a look through their mailbox and archive, but no luck. Also tried having a look as a few other users mailboxes, who were working here around that time, but no luck there either. We went to 2007 from 2003 last year, and i was hoping that there would be some way in which the email on the previous system would have been archived in some way? maybe not.......
 
Outlook 2003 'archives' sent items older than 6 months anyway, so it prolly isn't even sitting in Exchange unless you did an exhaustive migration ;/
