I've never really got into Vista much and never did like the interface for searching for files so need some advice on figuring out the Search in Windows 7.
In XP, I was able to open up a Search and if I wanted to find any file that contained a particular word, XP Search did have the "A word or phrase in the file:" field I could use and away it went. I could even target any particular folder I wanted rather than the whole drive.
So, as one example, if I wanted to find an inf driver file that contained "Canon" somewhere on my C: drive, would I have to set the indexing options to index the whole of the C: drive including hidden or system files, would it then work?
Again, using the same example, in XP, if I knew there was a file containing "Canon" in the Inf folder, I could right click on the Inf folder and start a word or phrase search from there, is that the same in Windows 7 if I set Indexing options to index the Inf folder and then simply using the Search as normal?
Similarly - if I wanted to seach for a particular value in an .ini file too.
Any advice gladly received!
