What happened to Seasonic's PCI cables?

I've had a few Seasonic PSU's in the past and the flat cables were decent as they didnt stand out but these things are thick and then have a flat splitter coming off of them which makes no sense to me because I read its recommended to use two cables if the GPU has two 8 PIN ports

Because of this I have two huge PCI cables with two splitters dangling right in the middle of the build which looks terrible

Are they so thick because you can just use one cable, the only info I can find on the internet is its best to use two cables rather than one, I used two in my last build and they were Seasonic but because they were flat they were much easier to neaten up

Thanks

I only use the one cable for my Radeon 7 and one cable for my Vega out of a seasonic platinum, never had an issue.

Ok thanks I might drop them an email and see what they say because it's conflicting info

I would definitely prefer to remove one of the cables but hesitant to do so because I read it can increase the risk of crashing under load and coil whine and any images I've seen of my GPU have two attached

I would always use two seperate cables rather than a single cable and it's second connector, especially on a high power card such as a 1080ti/2080ti or Vega 64. If you want to get rid of the ugly cable then buy a pair of cable extensions if you have room to hide the extra length.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Seasonic replied already, impressive response time.

They confirm to use two cables. I didn't think of extensions I'll have a think on that, thanks

No doubt the best bet is to use two cables! I've been running on one since vega release date so aren't about to change. Too lazy for it to look bad :)
