Hello folks, a bit of a boring thread here, I apologise.
Basically I'm looking for a new PSU and have narrowed it down to these two that are within my price range (although other good recommendations welcome).
After reading about the VX550, it seems to have all the features you'd want: 80% efficiency, solid rails etc. This is also the same for the Seasonic 500.
What I want to know is which to get based on the fact that the VX550 is single rail, and the S12-500 is dual rail (40A on the VX, 2x17A on the S12, surely amps is all that matters?). The seasonic also has solid caps + you are guarunteed a seasonic PSU, I dunno if the OEM varies on the Corsair?
I'm unlikely to ever SLI (though the VX is certified), and certainly never really buy high end graphics, a 3870xt would be about the PSUs heady heights in the future, for now it just has to power an old 9800pro AGP rig. I'm obviously trying to squeeze the best value for money out though with a bit of future proofing in mind should I want to upgrade.
Thanks for any help, if anyone has any damning evidence (such as oem / quality lottery) or good points between either of these I'd appreciate it.
P.S
Having to buy a new PSU because my 4 - 5 year old antec 480w trupower v1 decided to give up the ghost, gracefully though, machine just failed to boot this morning, tested with another PSU and booted first time. So really I'm looking for the same quality again in this psu, but i know that can't be guaranteed!
