Hi just been trying new PSU for someone on here to see how quiet fan is.

But what i found was/is the cables are an F'in joke 24pin ATX is woe fully short so has to run straight up from PSU to socket.
But the Sata and molex ones are so short won't reach at all only saving grace ive with Sata is using a switcher unit so cables on that might reach end of cables?
But the molex just about reachs halfway across the case!!!

Any idea's on extending already have the soldering iron out ready to go!
ATX might have to get one of those strimmer things?

Do they do longer cables???
plus makes it worse as a short Ar8ed PSU compared to my Enermax so there even further to the back!
I'm running a full tower maybe ok if have an Hamster cage?

Hi can you get extensions that plug into psu so can plug sata/molex etc into them rather than just sticking bits into the end of the molex
Or end up looking like a spiders web inside!

Cheers im looking for cables that plug into the psu end then plug oe cables into them rather than into end of OE cables which looks messy as with likes of the molex the first one is in the middle of the case in fresh air!
Can't do any cable management it's just mis'management as will just cut straight across case.
Maybe will just get snips out cut a load of leads up and resolder together?

You can buy custom replacement psu cables from Cablemod. They sell kits on here (As do Bitfenix with the Alchemy range) but if you want a certain length then that is an option. Might be a bit pricey though depending on what you want.

Hi yes rang the HQ today but need to go through them but they are same length it seems as have already! but they look far better than these cheap shoestring/liquorice plastic things.

But it's the PSU end ideally need to extend with Molex/Sata cables at least or just going to look a mess
Just need to find ones that can plug into Seasonic as guess the Silverstone ones won't work?

You can make the cables to your requirement on cablemod by using the configurator. Think the max length is something like 900mm for the 24 pin and 8 pin cpu.

If you want them to plug directly into the psu then you need replacement cables. And no Silverstone cables won't work on Seasonic as the pinouts will be different at the psu end. Only thing you can plug into any psu is extensions i.e ones that connect to the end of an existing cable like the ones EsaT posted above. That is the cheapest option but it means more cable clutter.

Hi cheers thanks for info will check them/that out.
Just seems a pity that a so called "Premium" company resorts to using tat leads and not having/giving buyers/user's options!
As Seasonic should offer either longer leads or extensions from PSU end as last thing you want is extending all the other ends!

That would be certainly best for getting good fit with least money.
(have Lian Li PC-A71 myself so knows its design)
And with good old sleeved colour coded wiring it would have been trivial thing to do.
But since Corsair and fashion assmotics pushed that crappy liquorice everywhere, there would be now lots of work in avoiding messing order of wires/pins.

Hi yes i guess all in the name of chasing the Chinese $ Devil? what with them and there Hung Flung Dung Budget Fan.
thinking of another mobo tray mod! Cut out and install one of those cable gromets that newer ones have guess OC sells them? don't know if you have done them? have a hole low for cables to run through all ready did before which might re'jig that to take a grommet also.
Just curious! My board think is E atx Take it H ATX would be wider what about lower? but where would the board fixings be roughly so hopefully if mod not where they would be needed if ever get that far with boards?
There are holes predrilled already i guess they could be for H atx?

just feeling rather disapointed with seasonic atmo esp with something that is meant to be flag ship as more Sh!te ship in reality! Snipping and joining will be piccies and multi meter job plus write down as with my illness and having had a small stroke along with delaing with asperger's things can get "Fraught"!
The EP leads look long enough!.ATX if "butchered" tray will probably fit "Maybe"? Gpu ones 50/50 but guess those Liquorice shoe laces will cause issues?
But it's the molex that is the real problem found one way might just get across to other side but "tight" if run psu fan upwards the connectors are in top right.

Other way is chop other cable and join to it how much power is one molex ok for? if just use the one cable with 3 plugs Atmo running two case fans Coolmaster blue things!.D5 pump(but that could run off other cable as lead for that is long)couple of 5mm leds in EK spin Res and a 10watt? blue led chip also have a Delta PWM fan that draws 3.4watt on max that plan to sit in frame behind HD cage for extra cooling on GPU etc.

Which is the best way to run PSU? Fan upwards or downwards for longer life PCA 71 has the pedestal that psu rests on so not flat on floor.

Have 6! PCI-E cables one of those is looking tasty to chop 6 cables as two plugs run off back of two other plugs which take are earths looking at my other psu gpu cables.
Strip out 2 i don't need then work from there as can't see me ever having 3 GPU's? Have 3 other CPU-E ones marked CPU.

Fault for liquorice cabling is entirely on Corsair and their butt kissers.
Before them making it must have fashion for those who can't think for themselves, all PSUs used proper colour coded wiring.

Without any sound damping mats installed in side panels there should be just enough room behind motherboard tray for cables:
https://www.nordichardware.se/test/cases/lian-li-a71.html
Also with bitumen mass damping there should be room for flat cables, if you can keep them in flat position.
But any thicker damping material (like BeQuiet Noise Absorber) doesn't leave enough room to avoid side being bulged.

Modular cables are connected to PSU using Mini-Fit connector, which has something like 5A current rating at mimimum for connector of any size.
Number of pins in connector has also effect to rated max current.
(more pins in connector means more heat produced in small space)
That Molex connector used for optical drives and PATA HDDs has IIRC lower rating.

In actively cooled mode with fan running even at minimum speed direction of PSU doesn't have much effect.
(because there's airflow room under the PSU)
But for semi-passive mode having fan facing up would let heat rise out from PSU when fan isn't running.
Of course that also makes PSU more exposed to falling stuff like screws, if you drop one during installation of parts.

Hi no don't have any padding in case but still not a massive amount of room!

Will look at splitting loads between to cables.

Just hooked up other psu i got new focus platinum reading 4.9 volt .12v.2 11.9 but read higher at end of molex lead mind guess thats not same 5v? but -12v is reading 12.9+ as after a while got dee dum HH on tester unit.
