Hi Guys

went out to the car this morning and the remote won't unlock the car. It doesn't even attempt to do anything when unlocking.

If i unlock the drivers door manually and insert the key in the ignition, this disarms the alarm and immobiliser and pressing the interior Lock / unlock buttons will lock and unlock all the doors as expected.

I would normally just suspect the battery had gone in the key as i've never replaced it in my life time. However the wierd thing is the remote key still locks all doors, it just won't unlock them.

I figured that maybe the button had worn out (as I only have one remote key as the 2nd one isn't remote) but the button to unlock only the boot doesn't work either and I never use that.

Any ideas on what to expect. Can i resolve by sourcing and programming my own replacement key (read a guide on the seat forums about switching the blades and using my existing second key to program another one) or is this likely to need to go to a garage ?

Common issue on the early MK2, door module needs replacing. My MK4 Ibiza had the same sort of issue as it shares the same module.

Doesn't sound like my issue.

If i attempt to unlock the door by the fob, none of the doors open.

If i press the "unlock" button inside the car after opening the drivers door, all of the doors open. I can lock and unlock all of the doors from inside the vehicle once i'm in it.

Its only the remote part that isn't working.
