Yay or nay?

i was looking for an R, had £7.5k to spend. There were a few about however in the end i decided i would be stretching myself with the running costs so i opted for a clio 182 (which i picked up today) running costs generally are a lot cheaper. As much as i love the 182 already, part of me still wishes i could have had an LCR

Yeah, nor me. I dont like debts hanging over me. A standard Cupra with a remap would give you a good amount of power though, or even something with the same engine, Octy vRS perhaps? /pimp.

Yeah you can definitely get them cheaper, i picked up my Y-Reg Leon for £3800. Love it, great car and plenty of mods avaiable as well. :)

Lovely, "only" the 210, but they remap to the same result anyway.

Its low milage too, 14k off needing the Cambelt doing, and a good 34k off needing the camchain tensioner doing.

I'd say its about £700-1000 over what its worth though.

There are two types of LCR, the 210BHP version, and the 225PS version, the swapover was at some point in 2003. Distinguishable with the 225 having a thicker steering wheel with a red line at the top center point, the 225 also has red lettering on the Cupra badging, will always have the engine code BAM (210's are AUQ IIRC, certainly they always begin with A##). The 225's all have the teardrop shaped wing mirrors, the early 210's have the same wing mirrors as the MK4 golf, later ones can sometimes have teardrops.

Essentially the same car however, just one has 12BHP more as standard (higher boost pressure).

Personally, I'd want one that had the center armrest, without it, you have less storage space (and you have precious little as it is, due to the CD changer being in the glovebox), and its also a nice place to have your arm on longer journeys.

You can keep your eye out for one with the optional recaro seats, however after sitting in both, there is little difference between the "standard" sports LCR seats and the recaros.

Check for leaking door seals, check that both radiator fans come on (common fault for one to fail). Check that the rear wash-wipe works (the pipework comes off quite often, easy to fix though).
