good idea or bad idea??
just got my motherboard back from rma, but don't want to go full steam ahead as i think the cpu might be next for the rma treatment, just want to fire it on to see the bios (hopefully)
also would it be sensible to stick to the stock cooler for the testing to save time with the cooler mounting

cheers in advance :)

Paste it up. Stock is fine (probably pre-pasted already; check bottom)

It'll randomly cut power if you start it up with no cooler/paste. Possibly after 2 seconds maybe 30.

Only bad things will come of it though.

Should only take a moment to bung some cheapo TIM on and again a few seconds to clean it off the stock cooler.

Do not fire it up without paste (it will most likely hit 90+C inside half a minute and power off with a small chance of thermal management failing and damage being done to the CPU), use the stock cooler for testing if it has paste.

To use no paste is asking for big trouble and i dont think o.c would be pleased if you had to rma the cpu as well because you let it over heat.
