Second 290 or wait?

Just upgraded to a 1440p monitor & a VTX R9 290, which is cooled with a Corsair H55 AIO.
It's runniing @ 1050/1300mhz & gave great performance @1080p, but feel it's going to start showing its age shortly.

What I was wondering, is it worth adding a second 290 or hanging on for new cards due next year?

Issue I have with adding a second card, is my current setup is very quiet, & adding another air cooled 290 would increase the noise quite a bit.
I know I could fit another AIO to the second one, but not sure it's worth it & I don't really have the room for another rad. I also, don't really want to do a full custom loop at the moment.

I could drop a few settings to regain my FPS, but I feel that defeats the object of having a decent monitor.

Couple of examples of my FPS.

Shadow of Mordor 1440P ultra settings - average 45-50fps
Grid Autosport 1440p ultra settings - average 55-60fps

What cards are due out in the near future that would give a nice performace increase, or should I just bite the bullet & get something now :D

im in the same boat, ive decided to carry on with the single 290 for now and save my pennys and see what comes along, my gut feeling is amd or nvidia will have something to tempt us with in february, well thats my guestimate

If you're happy with your current fps then as others have said just wait & see what appears in the 1st quarter next year.

If you're not happy then its either a 2nd 290, or cough up for a 295x2 :)

If you did go for a 2nd 290 then I'd make sure it was either a Tri-X or a PCS+.

Their coolers are pretty quiet under load & temps are usually around 65c on a single card in a decent case with decent airflow.

Well, I've bitten the bullet & ordered a 295x2.:D

Always fancied a play with one, & dispite a few horror stories of them throttling at the drop of a hat, I'm hoping I get a good one !
