ok, a brand new corsair 650w psu i bought a few weeks ago - after 2 days it failed and wouldn't turn on.
Got a replacement, installed at the weekend - took a couple of presses to turn on yesterday. Shut it down this morning and tried to turn on - nothing! Exactly the same as the last one. (there was isuue with both, where my keyboard/mouse/monitor would flash and the psu wouldn't turn on, on a couple of occasions - still not sure what the cause was).

what the hell is going on?? my old psu works fine (a 460w akasa) and yet i've had 2 corsairs fail in a matter of weeks.
Could my PC be causing this?? (but the old psu has worked for 5 years fine)

has ocuk had a bad batch recently? i'm very annoyed and confused - 2 failures in the exact same way is a bit of a coincidence.

and what do i do for a replacement this time? try a third one? get something else?

Seems that you have had an unusual issue. However if you request an RMA we have had a new batch of stock arrive yesterday. So all should be good on a replacement.

yeah, i've posted this post in the customer service forums as well and requested an RMA there - third time lucky i hope. Its just very frustrating and i'm paranoid that somehow there is something wrong with my PC that is breaking these new psu's, although that sounds ridiculous.

well, i've got an RMA number - going to give corsair a third try - i can't possibly be that unlucky! (famous last words)

That's extremely odd and we're sorry you are having this issue. The 650 is a very good seller for us and we have not had a bad batch.

Just curious, are you using a UPS or drawing power directly from the wall?

directly from a 6-way extension cable, although i think it does have a surge protector in. My old psu has been working for years though with no problems - i only changed as i was going to upgrade my graphics card (and the fan on the old psu is getting a bit noisey).

Please let me know if you have an issue with the 3rd replacement. Also, for testing, if you have the option, plug the PSU directly into the wall and see if you have the same result. The Corsair is a newer design than your previous unit and it's also likely to be trying to pull more power than the old one.

ok, just got back from work and something strange is happening - the PC started up fine.
i shut down and tried again - didn't start on first press but started up again on the 2nd or third press of the power button.

so, its working for now.

the first psu didn't do this - it stopped working and wouldn't turn back on.

any ideas whats going on??

ok, me again - the psu was working fina all weekend - i even turned off on sunday and turned on again - still fine.

then, this morning, turned off as usual and i thought i'd just check that it turns on again - nothing!! couldn't get it to turn on again. Tried plugging directly to the wall as yellowbeard suggested - no difference.
i can try when i get back from work tonight but it might turn on ok - so i don't know whats going on and am a bit concerned that i could send it back to ocuk and they will find nothing wrong with it (or that a third psu will do the same)??????????

ok, i just got back home - turns on fine.

powered off and powered on fine again.

so, i'm not sure what the problem is.
Does the psu have some kind of 'short' protection which prevents it turning on for an amount of time?
the old psu didn't show this but i'm at a loss to explain whats going on.
