hello all

New build troubles... its all pretty much bobbins stuff. like celerys and 40gb hard drive. Full list

asrock 775
msi 6200
Belkin wireless pci card
celeron d 2.66
40gb maxtor
512 ddr400
a non brand 370w power supply <--- proper bargain basement

Anyway, all cables are connected and i am getting inconsistant power ups.. sometimes will power off before i cannot get into bios. Can not successful get into bios. no OS is installed yet because i can't get it to last long enough

If it does power on and i am able to get it to stay switched on. It will stick on the bios screen.. pretty weird stuff

Anyway any suggestions are welcomed, i see this being the mobo or a psu issue

I am stuck between the two, I only just built my other machine into a p180 and i will be damned if i do it again! Its just strange how inconsistant the problem is, I got it past the boot up screen and it seemed fine. Restarted and then it wouldn't power for more than 5 seconds :(

My hunch was PSU which i can go and get a new today or if its mobo I can't resolve until later.. but all that aside how would you be able to find out it is the mobo

TBH the PSU is the most likely!
For randomness anyhews!

thanks a lot, i think i have pretty much decided on getting a new PSU today so I will report back once this ghey machine decides to try and play a game roflcopter!

LOL! Good luck and have fun!
PSUs are not really somthing you should skimp on! unless you dont care about the rig its in! :D

New power supply = same problem

What trouble shooting steps shall i do next...

It comes up with a bios screen sometimes it shows the processor and memory but it won't go on to the next screen it will stick there and go blank which will power it off

After this happens, It will continually refuse to boot up. Shall i try reseating the cpu and try my best to rule out anything but the mobo?

Thats all for now, any advice is welcomed

Put everything together and found a IDE cable which would stop everything from working

I've put a windows xp disc in which is definitely auto booting and it wont boot at all.

Also once he goes past POST and tries to boot the keyboard will totally turn off.. its a USB one for reference Saitek Eclipse II and i have also tried it using a PS/2 converter and the same thing happens.

I go into the bios and set it to boot as CD first but its not interested and of course the keyboard decides to stop working at this point.

Any ideas to combat this??
