So I completed my first computer from bits recommended by OC, and I am a satisfied returning customer.

So I have an old PC tower case which was an Advent T9400 3.4ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor which I believe will be the donor machine. It has two 200gb HDDs for a total of 400gb.

I need therefore;
(a) new PSU
(b) new motherboard
(c) new i5 CPU
(d) cooling for the CPU
(e) RAM (max 8, but prefer faster, don't need 16)
(f) 64 bit operating system
(g) new GPU, I prefer nvidia, and the 4mb 770 I bought for my other PC sets the benchmark.

my ideas are;
(a) PSU
(b) motherboard MSI £106.99 (Z87 G45) -http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-235-MS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2574
(c) CPU- i5 4690 - £155.99 -http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-532-IN&groupid=701&catid=6
(d) cooling for the CPU - no idea advice please
(e) RAM - Patriot venom £71.99 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-081-PA&groupid=701&catid=8
(f) 64 bit operating system - £74.99 windows 8.1 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-165-MS
(g) GPU= Gainward £275.99 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-180-GW&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1750

Without the PSU and cooling the above comes to £685.95
But the special bundle is on at £396.86 (with RAM at 2133) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-005-OG&tool=3 - which includes the cooler on the CPU, and my parts above are £334.97 without the CPU cooler, so I presume they are roughly comparable.

I was actually aiming for £500, and so may have to make some compromises, clearly the GPU is the most expensive item.

Although there is a cheaper CPU at £97.95 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-497-GI

Below is a table of WoT graphics cards. Interestingly my 770 with 4mb maxs out at about 107 FPS and so is way better than the 2mb one on the table.

I'd suggest not to use that case you have.

First, I think its mATX (I can't find the case spec, but for the PC the motherboard is mATX) and we don't know what size cooler it can take.

Considering you can get a decent new case for £30-£50, it worth the extra outlay.

I'm guessing the hard drives will be IDE so you will have to buy a new one that is SATA interface. Motherboards these days don't support IDE anymore.
