Second display not working

I'm trying to get a dual-monitor setup on my new computer. The main monitor is plugged into the graphics card via a DVI-VGA converter, and since I don't have another converter I've tried using the motherboard's onboard VGA plug.

However, the computer isn't recognising it. The second screen usually says "No signal input. Please check cable." if there's no connection found, but that's not showing up. Windows doesn't detect a second screen at all.

I've got a Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard and an MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. Any help would be appreciated!

Even with Z68 i'm pretty sure you can't use both motherboard and graphics card video outputs at the same time.

To get both monitors working you will need to buy another DVI-I to VGA adapter/cable (assuming the second DVI output on your graphics card is DVI-I type).

Do none of your monitors have DVI or HDMI inputs?

At the moment the only other input on either of the monitors is DVI-D on the main one (Not that I've got a DVI cable at all *Note to self: Get one*). I think both the connectors on the graphics card are DVI-I.
