at the moment i have a HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512mb pcie, when i got it for the first 3days the fan was quite then it got noisy, i got it replaced and once again the first 3days it was ok but ive got the same problem. im going to see what overclockers can do ive told them i want a full refund

if i do what card do you recommened for the same price or close as £162 doesn't have to be a ATI card

i know a lot of people have had problems with fan clipping noise

little really it is DX10 card, should out perform a 1950, the VRAM is insignificant unless you are using some useless ultra graphics settings.

i see its 320mb and the one i have is 512mb is there any drawbacks :)

None, unless you game at 1920 or higher.

Lower resolutions, it will beat the ATI cards. I am able to play supreme commander on dual monitors, 1680x1050 without trouble, Oblivion with HDR, AFx16, everything maxed, at around 46 - 70 FPS (depend what is going on).

My 3d mark got over 10000.

I went for the OCUK one, and overclocked from 500/1800 to 660/2040 :)

cheers lets hope overclockers will give me a full refund  i had a NVIDIA card before,i think im now put off by ATI

Yeah get the GTS, totally destroys the x1950pro, ATi don't even have a card out thats as fast, they can't touch the G80. :D

I went from an x1800 XT 512mb to the 320mb GTS, gaming at 1280x1024 here and the lesser memory doesn't make a difference, stonking cards for the price.

Those HIS cards are atrocious, unbelievable amount faulty, used to be a decent brand, but they have gone way down hill now, they are absolutely terrible, even the AGP pro's are buggered, they develop rattly fans, the power connectors on them are buggered so you have to file or cut your power adapter to bits just to get it to fit in, theres loads just crash, and give black screens etc.... :(

Your new card will kick ar*e compared to the old one. What about the 640mb version?. Only 50 quid dearer.

Nice one. May I ask you what resolutions this monitor supports and what size it is also?. What monitor and graphics card do you have to use other than the x1900?. Answer these questions and I can hep you. :)

Nice monitor. Test what?, your X1900?. I'd send it back anyway and get the 640mb version. I say 640MB version as a few titles might start struggling at 1680x1050 but most will be fine. I do not want to take that chance and will get the 640mb version.

I was going to wait for R600 but I want to try G80 out. First Nvidia card that shines in my eyes.

I don't know what PC you have to use for the wait until your monitor is in stock so I don't know if it's worth the wait. 22" and 8800GTS 640Mb version is what I recommend.

Well with HIS's recent failure rate being quite high there's a good chance the card is defected. Lets hope lol ;). Hearing it when the PC is off is a good sign anyway. I wouldn't be having that in my machine. Also the refunded money will be spent back in here. :D

well to make sure ive got the side case of yep im not worried the noise is there not as loud as my first one but it could get that way, you cant really hear it with the case on but i think its because of my fans

they should able to hear it aswell when they turn their machine off when the fan on the card slows down

sounds like a car ticking over :(

better ask one more question my pc can handle the 880GTS

my specs
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+
ATI HIS x1950pro
2GB ram

You aren't alone.

I received a replacement HIS 256MB PCIe. This one came with the all cables as listed on the box, so started better than the first purchase.

Had no noise issue for the hour I used it, so powered down. Come back later and the rattles present. Been playing for 5+ hours without any letup of the rattle.
